The 'Blue Bridge' - Victoria Inner Harbour
The "Blue Bridge", opened in January 1924, is located at the foot of Johnson Street and defines the entrance to the Upper Harbour.
The double lifting span bridge was designed by Joseph Strauss, who also designed the Golden Gate suspension bridge in San Francisco. In 1979 the bridge was repaired and painted in blue to match the oxides of its pigment. Spend a few minutes on this bridge and experience a unique scenery of the Victoria Inner Harbour. I cannot believe we are replacing the Blue Bridge. Having read all the pros and cons it is not to anyones advantage and will be an outrageous cost. Similar to the olympics eh?

I have been shooting panoramas around Victoria downtown during the last 5 years and something I noticed is that the blue bridge is almost everywhere. I think that any solution to replace or fix the bridge should include this strong presence the blue bridge has in the city. Hopefully it will remain at least "blue".
